Phytomining - a technology supported by the DoE ARPA-E

AET developed a patented lignite-based soil enhancer/amendment (Trademark Ginate®) through a proprietary biological process.  Ginate® has been field proven to raise soil quality, enhance soil microbiomes and promote plants growth.  Data from leading institutes such as Colorado State University, University of Wyoming, and Collindale Golf Course (Fort Collins, CO) have shown that  show significant features and performances of Ginate®:

  • Contains 80+% organic matter in a myriad of molecular sizes and compositions to support long-term soil quality and near-term soil bioactivities and plants
  • Contains 40+ trace mineral elements that are essential to soil microbiomes, plants metablomisms, and subsequently nutrients completeness in food
  • Contains NO residuals of pathogens, weed seeds, hormones or other pharmaceutical compounds commonly seen in other organic products such as composts
  • 30-300% increased biomass growth
  • up to 80% reduction in use of synthetic chemical fertilizers
  • up to 30% reduction of water use

Leveraging the above functions, Ginate® has been supported by the Department of Energy ARPA-E program, as one of the seven institutes to receive the Phytomining grant to explore its applications in helping soil microbes and "hyperaccumulator" plants to extract nickel (and potentially other valuable metals) from serpentine soils, establishing a cost-effective and sustainable technological niches. with consumable catalysts that enhance biogenic coalbed natural gas (BCBNG) production. More information of Phytomining can be found at DoE ARPA-E Phytomining Program

In addition to Phytomining, other main applications for Ginate® include: forest maintenance, post-fire reforestation, landscaping, golf courses and parks, roadside vegetation coverage and soil maintenance, land and mine surface reclamation, as well as organic growth and large scale agriculture.  Further information and inquiry about Ginate® can be found at  Ginate - a novel soil enhancer .
