E-Redox® is the flagship technology invented and commercialized by AET. E-Redox® technology consists ofE-Redox® (O) and E-Redox® (I), composed of oxidative and reductive functions, respectively.
E-Redox® technology is based on bio-electro-chemical processes that achieve rapid degradation of contaminants by manipulating and accelerating transfer of electrons within the impacted matrices including surface ponds and lakes, wastewater, groundwater, soils, and sediments.
E-Redox® devices can be applied both in situ and ex situ. E-Redox® systems can be installed in existing soil boreholes, monitoring wells, ponds, lakes, as well as specified boreholes and peizometers. There is minimum monitoring and maintenance required for E-Redox®.
E-Redox® (O) and (I) technologies have been applied to dozens of field sites. Click here for a few example project case studies.
System provides an inexhaustible and favorable electron acceptor, allowing for the initiation and sustainment of rapid electron transfer in the contaminated matrix. It is a “passive” technology that actively and rapidly degrades contaminants such as petroleum compounds.
The operation of E-Redox® (O) consumes NO ENERGY and can even generate electricity in the process. It is truly sustainable and exemplifies "natural attenuation on steroids" and "enhanced natural attenuation".
E-Redox® (O) is applicable to oxidative remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons, NH4, P, and toxic metals such as As.
Establishes an aerial reductive field, initiating and sustaining a "micro capacitor" mechanism that feeds electrons within impacted matrices while rapidly reducing contaminants such as chlorinated ethenes, perchlorate, nitrate, and Cr VI.
Through treating chlorinated ethenes, E-Redox® (I) triggers a dominant beta-elimination reaction, generating no intermediates (such as DCE and V). E-Redox® (I) also benefits and stimulates the well-known biologically-catalyzed hydrogenotrophic dechlorination.
The micro-capacitor effects of E-Redox® (I) shifts charges and the "water cage" configuration at the solid-water interface, initiating desportion of adsorbed contaminants into the water and substantially enhancing the efficiency of mass removal and remediation.
The operation of E-Redox® (I) consumes minimum household electricity or uses alternative power sources like solar and wind.
